After an unprecedented “4-Peat” in NCAA college softball, in 2025, for the first time in five years, the Oklahoma Sooners did not win the national title.
So how has Oklahoma responded in the 8 months since their 2025 season ended? They have massively overhauled their pitching staff. Only 2 pitchers from last year’s staff of 8 are back on the team this year. But with these new additions, this Sooner pitching staff is stacked.
First, the freshman. The Sooners added a former Gatorade Player of the Year out of Pocola, OK in Alyssa Parker, and added a former MaxPreps first team high school All-American selection from South Bend, IN in Berkley Zache.
They also added the ace pitchers from two conference rivals—one from LSU and one from Ole Miss. And both of those teams made the playoffs last year! Ole Miss even made it to the WCWS! The first transfer is Sydney Berzon from LSU who went 18-8 with 2.46 ERA and 104 strike outs last year, and the second is sophomore Miali Guiachino from Ole Miss. She also had an impressive season last year going 16-11 with a 3.43 ERA and 172 strike outs.
Add those four to returning starters senior Kierston Deal and sophomore Audrey Lowry and you have one stacked pitching staff. Clearly Oklahoma was not happy about 2025 and has made some big moves in an effort to back on top in 2026.
