The 2026 AUSL pro softball season has ended, and the Utah Talons are, for the 2nd year in the row, champions.
The Talons faced off against the Chicago Bandits in the final series. This was a classic best offense vs best defense matchup with the Bandits featuring the league’s top team offense and the Talons possessing the league’s top pitching staff.
And pitching won this round, with The Talons sweeping the Bandits in 2 games with 2-1 and 6-1 victories. The mighty Bandits offense only mustered 12 hits and 2 runs in 2 games.
The Talons featured a decisive 1-2 punch on their pitching staff with Montana Fouts and Georgina Corrick. Each pitched a complete game, only allowed one run, and picked up a win.
And we all know Montana Fouts is the ace of this team, and her contributions have been well documented, including by me. Let’s take a moment to recognize the 2nd half of the Talons elite pitching duo in Georgina Corrick.
Corrick is from England (Right? Who knew?). She came across the pond and played college softball for the University of South Florida (Go Bulls). As a senior in 2022, she led the nation with 37 wins, 21 shut outs, 418 strike outs, 0.51 ERA, and 274 innings.
And Corrick has been a huge contributor for the Talons this year, not just in the playoffs. She led the AUSL in ERA with 1.10 and opposing batting average (for pitchers with more then 20 innings) with a .202. When you pair Corrick’s numbers with Fouts, who led the AUSL in innings, strike outs, and wins, you got yourself a pretty formidable pair.
Both Fouts and Corrick will face off against each other in the 2026 AUSL all star cup which features a fantasy sports style draft, team games, and an individual champion. That starts next week on August 8.
