Let’s look at the most dominant performances in last weekend’s Super Regional.
Top performance was UCLA who played UCF and had a super regional best +18 run differential.
UCLA bats were electric. They put up 6 HR in 2 games led by Bri Alejandre and Aleena Garcia who hit 2 apiece. Overall UCLA’s offense had 13 hits and 14 runs, and 6 total HR in 2 games. Also very solid pitching rom Taylor Tinsley who pitched 7 innings, and struck out 11 with 4 earned runs.
Next best performance was Arkansas who notched a +17 run differential during their super regional matchup against Duke. Arkansas’s bats were the star of the show with 24 hits including 5 home runs and 24 total runs over 2 games. Also very disciplined at the plate as they drew 16 total walks over two games.
Standout pitcher was Payton Burnham who had a game 2 win with 6 strikeouts and 2 earned runs over 5 innings.
Finally we have Nebraska who was #3 with a +15 run differential versus Oklahoma State.
Lead story is Jordy Frahm who pitched a total of 8 innings, 1 earned run, and 9 strikeouts. She also added 3 hits and 2 runs on offense. Nebraska’s bats, pretty quiet during the regional also came alive in the super regional en route to 17 total runs. Nebraska’s offense was led by home runs from Jesse Farrell, Hanna Coor and Hannah Camenzind.
UCLA, Arkansas, and Nebraska are peaking at the exact right time and now join 5 other teams to compete in the 8 team WCWS field. Lots of incredible teams still alive as we head into the final weeks of the season. It’s going to be grand!
