The Oklahoma City Spark and Cascade will join the AUSL as expansion teams for 2026. THe AUSL now features six teams: Bandits, Blaze, Talons, Volt, and now the Spark and Cascade.
So far only the Spark have been attached to a specific city. The other teams remain “city free agents” so to speak.
Choosing OKC as one of the cities is an absolute no brainer as the WCWS takes place in OKC each year, and the University of Oklahoma Sooners program has dominated the sport for the better part of the last decade and has legions of fans throughout the area.
OKC Spark are not a brand new team. Rather, they have existed as an independent team for 3 years, but are finally settling down and joining the upstart AUSL. Though, sadly, I’m not making this up, the contracts of all of the Spark’s players last year have been terminated and the team will participate in the AUSL expansion draft on Dec 1 and will have a brand new roster for 2026.
While there are plenty of details online about the Spark, there is almost nothing on Cascade– so you will need to stay tuned for more updates on that!
I am feeling my own “spark” of excitement for the upcoming 2026 AUSL season.
