The curtain has closed on the AUSL’s inaugural season, here are the 3 biggest storylines from the 2025 season
- The Talons set a precedent for excellence by winning the regular season with an 18-6 overall record and winning the first AUSL championship. The primary reason for the Talon’s success is their dominance from the mound. Led by former USF pitcher Georgina Corrick and former Alabama pitcher Montana Fouts, the Talons led the league in team ERA with 3.69 and strike outs with 126. The Talons proved yet again that in fastpitch softball, pitching wins championships.
- The Bandits finished as the AUSL’s 2025 runner up. Bandits success in 2025 is largely due to their top ranked offense. The Bandits bats were led by Marshall product Morgan Zerkle and Kentucky alum Erin Coffell, and led the league in team home runs with 28, team RBI with 137, team hits with 241, and team average with .325. We really did have the #1 offense versus the #2 defense in the AUSL’s first championship series. Bandits did well but the Talon’s top ranked pitching won out as it usually does.
- On the flip side, we have the Blaze, who finished last with a 7-17 overall record. The Blaze have some legendary players on their roster including pitchers Keliani Ricketts and Alexia Ocasio, and catcher Taylor Edwards. Their offense was ok– they ranked #2 in team batting average, slugging percentage, and hits. But they ranked dead last in every pitching category– can’t do that and expect to win many games. The Blaze will for sure look to retool over the offseason and rebound in 2026.
