Softball Players Rediscover Their Roots—Indoors

CHICAGO  When it comes to playing softball year-round, there’s no doubt that warm-weather states like Florida, Arizona and California have a clear advantage. That may be why every single player on the 2008 Olympic Team came from one. But modern high-tech indoor facilities are now allowing players from cold-weather states to play softball during the winter months, too. 
This indoor movement is not surprising, given that softball was originally invented as an indoor version of baseball in the cold-weather city of Chicago, Illinois. Read more.
