3 Years and 103 Games Later

High Schooler Sets Amazing Hitting Record

EUGENE  The last time Kayla Braud failed to hit at bat was her freshman year...three years ago.  Kayla Braud of Eugene, Oregon ended her high school career with a record breaking 103 game hitting streak. (The previous national record was 46.) 
 
Kayla, Oregon 4A 2009 State Player of the Year, was a key component to the Marist State Championship squad, helping them to clinch the Oregon 4A state title. Kayla added First-Team All League & Sky-em League Player of the Year honors to her already numerous state accolades. She was 1 of 10 nominees for maxpreps.com Girls National Athlete of the Year and was featured in Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" on June 23, 2008. 
 
Kayla signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide while entering her senior year of high school. At the time, she was 73 games into her streak and she batted .645 with three home runs and 65 runs scored. 
 
Braud proved to be impressively consistent. She ended her prep career with perfect 28-for-28 in thefts, batting .603, and sporting a .700 on base percentage. She is 99-for-104 on the base paths. With such an impressive high school career, she will be one to watch as she enters collegiate play.
