Cat Osterman One-Hits the Japanese in US Semifinal Victory

CARACAS  The good news for the Americans is they shut out a potent Japanese offense in the semifinals yesterday of the ISF World Championships, moving them into the title game today. The bad news is they may be facing Japan again.


If Japan beats Canada this afternoon, a likely scenario given its stellar play so far in the tournament, then the team from the Land of the Rising Sun will get another shot the US—and the title.


The championship game is set to begin at 6:30 PM CST tonight. Should the US emerge victorious, it would be its ninth World title.


Cat Osterman was masterful yesterday in the circle for Team USA, issuing 12 strikeouts in a one-hit performance. It was sweet revenge for Osterman, who lost to Japan in the 2008 Olympic gold medal game. Read more.
