The 2018 NCAA college softball season is officially underway!

Arizona State is hosting its annual Kajikawa Classic softball tournament to kick off the season.  The tournament has 28 teams.  This year's notables are Tennessee,  Georgia, Stanford, Utah, Oregon, Missouri and Indiana.

The tournament has been hosted by Arizona State since its softball program's inception in 1966.  The tournament's name was initially the "Sun Devil Invitational," then it changed in 1991 to the "Coca Cola Classic," then to the "Fiesta Bowl Tournament" in 1999, and finally to the Kajikawa Classic in 2005 to honor former Sun Devil Coach Bill Kajikawa.

There are plenty of ways to watch online via the Pac-12 Network and FloSoftball.  Go check it out!

I tried to check in on the action and pull some data to see how the 28 teams are faring at the tournament, but the stat system is a joke.  Nothing is consistent and it's impossible to pull any data.

But from what I can see it looks like the Georgia Bulldogs are performing the best.  They have racked up wins of 23-2 over San Diego State, 5-1 over Utah, 13-1 over BYU, and 7-0 over Oregon State.  Looks like the Dawgs will be a force to reckon with this season!
